Brenna was born and raised in California. The daughter of two outdoor enthusiasts, she spent most of her childhood at the beach or in the mountains with her brother and sister. In elementary school Brenna joined the local swim team and continued to swim competitively until ending her career at Sierra College in 2007. Throughout high school Brenna participated in theatre, leadership, swimming, and tennis. Brenna received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History with an emphasis in Women in American History from San Diego State University. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart James and they now live in Provo, Utah. Brenna and James enjoy running, cooking Italian food, and browsing bookstores.  Brenna joined Northwestern Mutual as an Executive Assistant in 2009 and works to service clients with their policies and accounts.
